![]() That’s what our church does well, and I love both bringing friends into it for the first time and being there to connect with other people that bring their friends. One of the most exciting things about many growing churches today is they’ve become great at hosting experiences that unchurched people can access and ultimately love to attend. I love being part of a church that is constantly designing experiences with those who are not yet in the room in mind. The second compelling reason to attend a Sunday morning gathering is that you’re bringing a friend with you or because you yourself are exploring Christianity. Click To TweetĪn Experience For the Sake of Those Not Yet in The Room And the church is at it’s best when we engage in the mission God has given us. Second, listen to what this young mom had to say about her experience when she started skipping church because of the demands of parenting. Click To TweetĪnd before you think that you can do whatever you need to do as a Christian in the world without other Christians or without the church, here are a couple of reasons I would disagree.įirst, gathering together was Jesus’ idea, not ours. You don't just go to be served, you go to serve. The reason you would go to church today is that you've moved from being a consumer to being a contributor. There’s something deeply scriptural about that. ![]() You don’t just go to be served, you go to serve. The reason you would go to church today is that you’ve moved from being a consumer to being a contributor. That’s very different than consuming church in a back row, which you can just as easily do on your back deck. I think being the church has something to do with living your life for Christ, demonstrating God’s love by serving others and sharing your faith with people. Merely attending church doesn’t make you much of a church because sitting in a back row consuming church doesn’t make you very good at being the church. The main reason I gather with the church is because I am the church. In fact, I can think of only two compelling reasons to go to church anymore. ![]() We now live in a culture that’s drowning in options and has 24/7 access to anything Christian. In addition to faith reasons, people loved going to church because it was one of a handful of options available in a community as well as the main way (other than personal devotions) you connect with God. Generations ago, the church was a social and cultural hub as well as a missional hub. I wonder if in large measure that’s why the era of attending church is dying. Slip on Spotify and grab the message via podcast or on demand and boom, you’re covered. All of that you could almost do by yourself in a much more convenient way. You drive all the way in to connect with three or four songs, hear the message and then head home. Increasingly, I’m convinced there’s no point to merely attending. Which brings us back to the question: Why attend church? You can access almost any church you want, anywhere, anytime. If your church doesn’t have a great online experience, no worries, about a million others do. Plus we share the services on demand, so I could watch or listen any time during the week via our website or catch the message for free via podcast. I could literally watch live on any device I own anywhere. So I feel what the culture is feeling more than ever before.Īnd on those Sundays when I have no official role, I’m plagued with the question “Why go to church?”Īfter all, our church streams our services live online. Sure, sometimes I host the service or have other roles, but more often than I’ve ever experienced before, I’m free on a Sunday. I still carry about 30 Sundays a year of teaching and work on some senior level projects, but that leaves me much freer than I’ve ever been on a Sunday morning. In the fall of 2015, I transitioned out of the lead pastor role at our church and into a Founding and Teaching Pastor role ( Here’s a piece on why and how I did it). But I get why more and more people have simply stopped attending. There are many reasons why that’s happening ( I outline 10 here), but I think it’s increasingly evident that it no longer makes sense to attend church.ĭon’t get me wrong. You might have even asked the question yourself. The trend is practically universal: fewer people are attending church every year. ![]() We design and deliver creative ideas, innovative procedures, and results driven solutions to help your business. So, we know Razer could have improved on that sound quality. While we’ve tried other Kraken headsets that have had similar sound issues, we’ve also tested the Razer Opus and the Razer Blackshark V2, both of which didn’t have issues with their frequency response. To the headset’s credit, it does get a little better after it’s broken in. The mids, however, are muddy and hollow at the same time, which becomes even more pronounced when the virtual surround sound is enabled. There’s plenty of volume on tap, the high end is present, if not incredibly detailed, and the bass is even more pronounced than other Kraken headsets we’ve tried (and can thankfully be EQ’ed down in the software). (Image credit: Michelle Rae Uy) Razer Kraken Ultimate review: Performance and softwareĪs feature-rich as the Razer Kraken Ultimate is, the sound is a little disappointing. However, it looks good when it lights up – not to mention it's easy to adjust in the software and a welcome addition to the already feature-heavy Kraken lineup. It’s not reactive streaming, which is only available in the more expensive Kraken Kitty Edition headset, and it only has one RGB region, which means that both earcups will only follow one setting at a time. Probably the most noticeable difference between the Ultimate and most other Kraken headsets is the inclusion of RGB lighting. You’ll want to make sure it’s pointed directly at your mouth when using it, however, particularly if you need to use its active noise cancellation or ANC feature. Not only is the mic retractable, but it’s also very malleable so you can move it wherever you want. When pressed, a ring around the tip also lights up to helpfully remind you that your teammates can’t hear your angry outbursts or private conversation with a housemate. If you’re wondering where the mic mute button is, you’ll find it on the mic itself, which is frankly a smart design decision as it makes it a whole lot easier to mute mid-game. The retractable mic also sits on the same earcup, just in front of that cable. The volume wheel and button to toggle the THX Spatial Audio are located on the left earcup behind the cable. The Kraken Ultimate is minimal when it comes to external controls. Luckily, that limitation is offset by the fact that you’re getting a digital signal with that USB connection, which means uncompressed audio. As such, its connectivity is limited to just USB. Unlike the Kraken Tournament Edition, the Razer Kraken Ultimate is meant specifically for PC. The padding on these is very soft to touch, with cooling gel inside to keep your ears from overheating and a plush breathable pleather wrapping. The earpads, however, have more than their fair share. The padding on the headband itself is somewhat minimal, but the Ultimate is light enough that you’ll barely feel it. What makes the Kraken Ultimate an especially comfortable headset has to do with the padding. There’s almost no clamping force to speak of, which is fine by me since headsets with some clamping force can put unnecessary pressure on your head in the middle of long gaming sessions. Like most headsets, this can be extended on either side. That our developer team can look into this and check if it can be implemented in the future updates. The earcups don’t swivel or tilt much, but the headband is bendable enough to easily adjust to users’ heads. This is a valuable suggestion as there may be other users with a similar requirement. However, I commend and appreciate you for recognizing this behavior. Advanced Editor / Intelligent Code Editor ![]() The fragments are run through a single long glass capillary filled with a gel polymer, where they migrate according to their length. The elongation reaction is repeated for 30–40 cycles.įollowing sequencing clean-up, the newly synthesized DNA fragments are separated by electrophoresis. Occasionally, one of the four chain-terminating ddNTPs will be inserted by chance, stopping elongation of the DNA strand. An adenine base (A) is paired with every thymine (T) on the template and a cytosine (C) with every guanine (G) and vice versa. In the extension step, the DNA polymerase extends the primer from its 3´ hydroxyl group to synthesize a new strand. A subsequent annealing step allows for hybridization of the oligonucleotide primer close to the sequence of interest. The sequence of the template DNA strand can thus be derived by analysis (Figure 1).ĭuring PCR and cycle sequencing, the DNA is first denatured (the double-stranded DNA template becomes single-stranded DNA). The chain-terminated fragments are detected by their fluorescent labels, with each color identifying one of the terminating ddNTPs. ![]() The extension products are then separated by electrophoresis, resolved to single-nucleotide differences in size. By mixing ddNTPs that have been labeled with a different color for each base, unlabeled dNTPs, and template DNA in a polymerase-driven reaction, strands of each possible length are produced when the ddNTPs are randomly incorporated and terminate the chain. These analogs, called dideoxyribonucleotides (ddNTPs), are missing the 3´ hydroxyl group that is required for 5’ to 3’ extension of a DNA polynucleotide chain. (There must be an area of known sequence close to the target DNA.)W In order to determine the sequence, Sanger sequencing makes use of chemical analogs of the four nucleotides in DNA. Sanger sequencing targets a specific region of template DNA using an oligonucleotide sequencing primer, which binds to the DNA adjacent to the region of interest.
